In less than 60 days of your coaching service I am already seeing
great improvements in my mountain bike racing performance! You
really understand my strengths and weaknesses and how to keep
me motivated. I am really looking forward to getting faster
and fitter. Your depth of knowledge is quite impressive and
your client contact and follow through is amazing. You are truly
an artist of human performance!

Multi-Sport
Joe and Jill Sulak have taught me how to train effectively and
efficiently. My job requires me to be on an airplane and out
of town every week. It can be difficult to get in all of the
required training. I had come to enjoy road riding, Tri and
Du races, but with modest success. After working with Joe, I
have made substantial gains in fitness and am seeing faster
race times.
Already this year I have raced 2 Duathlons and shaved 6.5 minutes
on the first and 8 minutes on the second. Instead of being tired
and sore after the races, I feel stronger and am ready to train.
In the second Duathlon, I ran a PR for the first 5K and followed
it up with a "top 8" bike performance.

Riding
In just a couple of months with Joe, I am feeling stronger and
more confident in my racing. I had become familiar with Joe
through Bicycle Heaven and was first tested by him in January
2007. I contacted Joe for some training help after attending
his Fort Davis camp a year later. I was encouraged by the progression
of the Peak Fitness racers, and the positive feedback from fellow
racers. Joe's workouts for me take into account the realities
of working full time, raising a teenager, and fitting quality
training time into my schedule.

Fit
My long ride on Sun was great, position felt AWESOME! Wow, what
a difference! I feel so much better. Amazing, my upper body
(arms, back, neck) is not feeling so strained. I got into the
habit of "hanging" my head every few miles to stretch
out my neck, but when I did it the last couple days, no strain!
Upper body felt fantastic! Knee pain- ZERO! My legs are still
adjusting a bit, but I can definitely feel more power, just
as you pointed out, I'm using my legs for the entire rotation
and not just the push. I think since I'm using so much more
of my legs, I don't have as much dead-weight in the saddle--awesome!

Through my training with Joe, not only has my general fitness
level improved, but he has also helped me target specific areas

Marathon
Prior to working with Joe, I had started training for a marathon
on my own twice. Both times I over trained and ended up injured.
Once I started training with Joe I had so much more confidence
in my training because I knew that there was a well thought
out method to what he was prescribing. He provided the flexibility
to adapt my schedule to accommodate my life outside of training.
The end result was I successfully finished the NYC marathon
in 3 hours and 31 minutes. I am over the top proud of this accomplishment
and my finish time; I am highly confident that I could not have
done it without Joe’s assistance. I have given Joe’s
name to a lot of people since then and I am still training with
him today.

Triathlon
I starting going to Joe simply to manage my schedule for me.
I'm a working professional with a wife and a two year old; so
balancing work, family, and training can be a headache to say
the least. I could see that my training was not progressing
well and I had reached a plateau. After looking around at a
lot of online coaching resources, I found Joe's website. Not
only did he handle coaching in a high-tech and professional
manner, he bases all workouts on the athletes VO2 test data
which I knew to be critical. When Joe and I got started together
I was a chucky but ambitious triathlete with what some may call
unrealistic goals. Never the less, Joe has treated my like an
elite professional athlete. Despite the fact that he is very
busy, I can always rely on him to swap workouts around when
"something" comes up. Having Joe's help makes me fell
like a professional, and my performance is definitely showing
improvement. In the first 2 months of training, my anaerobic
threshold increased by 11 beats allowing me to decrease my mile
pace by 1 minute 30 seconds. Like many athletes, I'm a bit compulsive.
But, Joe's plans give me the peace of mind that I am training
as hard as possible in the time available. Thanks
Joe!

Joe and Peak Fitness have taken me from a weekend cyclist
and transformed me into a competitive cyclist in just five
months. With the VO2 testing & structured zone-workouts,
Joe has shown me how to increase endurance and power.
The results speak for themselves:
July 2005 I was dropped AND lapped at the July Challenge
April 2006, 14th place overall at the Fort Davis Hammerfest

Joe does a great job of combining my fitness goals and reality
into a workable training plan. Even with all of the books,
articles, and training plans out there, it’s still intimidating
and difficult to accomplish what Joe has in creating a program
that will allow me to reach my goals.
After 12 months and 25 pounds I have finished in the top 15
more than a few times in my first year of road racing! Joe's
a great coach and a great guy!

Qualify
After two years of training out of books and making little
progress, I was introduced to Joe Sulak. I underwent VO2 testing
and Joe set up an agressive training schedule. With his constant
support and encouragement I was able to set PR's in a 5K,
half marathon, and marathon. In just over six months I shaved
17 minutes off my best marathon time and qualified to run
the 2006 Boston Marathon! I appreciate everything Joe did
to help me achieve these goals.

| 50
Mile Trail Race
3 years ago I could barely run 3 miles without stopping. I
thought running was for people who were being chased. I began
running marathons in November 2003 and still consider myself
a newcomer to running. My previous best time was a 4:26 in
the 2005 Freescale Austin Marathon. After searching for the
"perfect training program", I began working with
Joe in October of 2005 and noticed immediate improvement.
After only 4 months, I set a PR at the 2006
Freescale Marathon with a time of 3:53. I can't wait to keep
training with Joe and see my times drop even further.
Now I've completed my first 50 mile race and can't wait for
the next one. I even have my sights set on a 100 miler someday.
None of this would have been possible without the coaching
of support of Joe Sulak and Peak Fitness.

| VO2
Testing
I'm glad I had my V02 test done with Peak Fitness. The results
were clear and easily applied to my workouts. Having just
had a baby, I was reluctant to start increasing the intensity
of my exercise. As it turned out, my test results showed I
wasn’t training at the right intensity. Once I knew
my ideal training zones, I began to get more out of my workouts.
With the little time to workout this past year, it was important
that I wasn’t wasting time training at the wrong intensities.
I am very pleased with the test results and my new personalized
training zones.
Thanks
Joe!

Testing
I loved the VO2 test results. What I found out was that I
was overworking myself and making myself fatigued and sick.
My threshold is low, but I am really enjoying working out.
Thanks for the info and I am so glad I did it; with this information
I can really improve and feel better!

Nothing helped my speed more than Joe’s track work outs.
The greatest part is that Joe keeps track of all my work so

| VO2
Testing
Prior to my initial VO2 test, I was training 6 days a week
and failing to improve. After my initial VO2 test, I modified
my training based on my newly established Anaerobic Threshold
(AT). A month later, my re-test reflected an increased AT
from 135 to 148. I was initially wiped out by the extra work,
but I have adjusted to the speed/tempo runs. At a HR of 135,
I’m now running about 1:30 faster per mile.

VO2 Testing
Joe Sulak tested me (VO2 test) before Christmas
of 2004 and he did a great job! He was very professional and
extremely accommodating. He met me at 5:30AM before work and
we were done in less than 45 minutes. He recommended a heart
rate monitor/watch and has been very supportive since I started
using the HR monitor. He takes all of my telephone calls and
cheerfully answers my questions. I am anxious to retest in
March of 2005 and check my progress.

Fitness
I am starting my 5th week with Joe and Peak Fitness and I
already feel like I can do anything! I can only imagine what
I am going to feel like in 6 months! I don't know how Joe
does it, but he pays so much attention to details, which makes
a huge difference. I have trained with others and it is definitely
NOT the same. Peak Fitness is training ME and giving me the
individual coaching that I wanted. I can email or call anytime
that I have questions and never feel like I am a burden. Somehow,
as busy as Joe is, he makes me feel like I am his only client.
Questions are always answered promptly and clearly. Everything
that I have learned from Peak Fitness has helped so much and
just makes sense. Knowing your zones is incredible. Learning
to know your body's thresholds makes your workouts so much
more enjoyable. Since starting with Peak Fitness not only
do I feel great but I am also proud of what I have already
achieved. I have a self-confidence and I just know that I
can only improve.

| VO2
Test / Base-building
I started "running" about four years ago. I would
do the 3-mile loop at Town Lake a few times per week and participate
in the many 5K runs around Austin but never progressed much
beyond a 10-minute mile. I started training for Triathlons
this past Spring and noticed that the harder I trained, the
more weight I put on and the more difficult it was to run.
Then, eight weeks ago, after my final Tri of the season, I
was introduced to Joe Sulak of Peak Fitness. I scheduled my
first VO2 test and found that my anaerobic threshold(AT) was
only 70% of my max. I had been overtraining, which was preventing
me from improving my time and causing me to gain weight. I
faithfully followed Joe's training plan, which put me barely
above a speed walk. It was extremely frustrating because I
could no longer keep pace with my friends and it took forever
to complete my long runs, but I stuck to it.
So,
for seven weeks I trained at a snail's pace for my first Half
Marathon (Bison Stampede). Joe tested me again at the end
of seven weeks and I was shocked at the progress I'd made
in such a short time. My AT had improved to 93% of my max.
I was now able to increase my pace and still exercise aerobically.
I had also dropped 10 pounds, bringing me from a size 10 down
to a size 4, which made running much easier.
I
just completed the Bison Stampede and, aside from some IT-band
issues (nasty downhill course), felt absolutely fabulous!
My breathing was steady, my heartrate stayed within range,
and I had no muscle soreness after the race. Had my IT-band
not been such a problem, I would have finished the race with
my friend in 2 hours. I'm anxious to tackle the 3M Half Marathon
in January. I can't say enough wonderful things about Joe
or his program. I'm just so happy with my results and I can't
wait to see how much more I can improve.
Thanks
Joe!

I learned quite a lot about my max heart rate, training zones,
